Madras Mixture is a very traditional South Indian Mixture. It is a favorite Diwali snack in the south region of India. It is a crunchy, light and delightful snack. This snack can be enjoyed by all and served this snack during many festivals including Diwali. This chatpata snack is very easy and quickly made with very few ingredients. You should try this snack at your home at least a once!
Ingredients of Madras Mixture Recipe
- Masala boondi - 1 Cup
- Omapodi - 1 Cup
- Poha - ¼ Cup
- Gram dal - ¼ Cup
- Cashew nuts, broken into pieces - 3 Tablespoons
- A handful curry leaves
- Red chili powder - 1 Teaspoon
- Asafoetida as required
- Salt - 1 Teaspoon
- Oil for frying - 1 Cup
How to Make Madras Mixture
Step 1: Heat sufficient oil in a pan.
Step 2: Deep fry peanuts and curry leaves until crisp, then deep fry poha in the same oil.
Step 3: After that deep fry the dal until lightly golden and crisp. Also, deep fry the cashew nuts until golden in color.
Step 4: Place this all fried ingredients on absorbent paper.
Step 5: In a large bowl place this all fried ingredients along with masala boondi, ompodi, red chilli powder, asafoetida, and salt. Toss everything well.
Step 6: Your Madras Mixture is ready to serve. Store it in an airtight container.
